Walnut Creek Wetland Park is on the cusp of adding new amenities to the park: A nature playscape, an accessible trail, a floating teaching platform, and a natural surface trail on the south side of the park. Over the years, many of the ash trees decimated by emerald ash borer have fallen, creating the appearance of a wasteland. Volunteers are need to help move the wood debris, and dead Japanese stiltgrass to a central pile.
Volunteer Duties:
Moving wood limbs and dead grasses from within the park to a centralized location.
Impact:
We cannot do this all alone. Your help is helping to not only beautify the park, but to get us ready for the next major stage in the park's development!
Work Environment:
We will be outdoors. Work will be physical on uneven terrain. There is a restroom on site.
Volunteer Requirements:
All volunteers must be 10 years old or older. All volunteers under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult. Other Instructions:
Volunteers should dress to be outdoors in clothes that can get messy or torn. Volunteers should bring a refillable WATER BOTTLE with water, WORK GLOVES, and any school service hour forms they may require. There will be a mid-shift break, and hot chocolate will be available when we finish. **In the event of inclement weather, the event will be canceled, and volunteers will be notified by phone and/or email.
