We are looking for volunteers to help out with our Spring 2021 season for Girls on the Run (www.girlsrun.org)! We have a variety of volunteer roles available and would love for you to get plugged in to our inspiring community. All genders are welcome and no experience is necessary to be a valued and fantastic volunteer with Girls on the Run. We are more than a running organization - we teach girls life skills while creatively integrating accessible movement and non-competitive running and walking.

We have roles available for you to work directly with girls or help staff remotely. Check out our volunteering options below and let us know if you're interested - we will help find a good fit for your schedule and interests.

Volunteer Role Descriptions
-IN PERSON COACH: (18 year old+) Work directly with girls in-person following safety precautions. Practices are 2x a week for 90 min sessions. Paired with 1-2 other coaches, follow curriculum. Practice time frame is late afternoon/evening. OPPORTUNITIES ALL OVER KING AND PIERCE COUNTY!!!
-VIRTUAL COACH: (18 year old+) Work virtually with girls using Zoom or Google Meet, follow virtual curriculum, paired with 1-2 other coaches. Practices are 2x a week for 45 min sessions. Practice time frame is in late afternoon/evening.
-SITE LIAISON: (18+ years old) Start a Virtual or In-Person team in your area. This role is great for someone involved in their community and/or has connections with families to recruit girls for the team (ie: parent, someone who works with a community org, staff at a YMCA/Community Center/local parks).
-PRACTICE PARTNER: (15+ years old) Assist GOTR Staff by organizing materials, delivering materials, writing cards to girls/coaches and sharing posts on social media.
-JUNIOR COACH: (15-17 years old) Great for high school student; paired with 2-3 other coaches that are 18 years old to facilitate curriculum. Junior Coaching is available for virtual or in person teams.

Description

Girls on the Run is a life-changing after-school program for 8 to 11 year old girls. Our innovative curriculum combines creative, uplifting workouts that support girls in developing a healthy body image, strong communication skills, supportive peer relationships, and greater self-awareness. We aim to empower girls by laying the foundation for active, healthy lifestyles and by promoting resilience to the challenges they may encounter during adolescence and beyond. We inspire girls to be joyful, healthy, and confident!! We rely on volunteers to lead our girls through the curriculum and serve as mentors. JOIN US!
