Volunteer MLK Day for Nature at Saunders Woods Preserve (PM)

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: Natural Lands

Martin Luther King Jr. Day commemorates the civil rights leader’s life and legacy, and is the only federal holiday designated as a national day of service to encourage all Americans to volunteer to improve their communities.

Grab gloves and join fellow volunteers in removing invasives plant species, nurturing native plants, and restoring habitats. Projects vary, but good fun (and dirt) is guaranteed! Natural Lands cares for more than 23,000 acres and 120 miles of trails, and we couldn’t do it without volunteers like you.

Volunteering with Natural Lands is a great way to learn more about the natural world, give your time to a great cause, and connect with enthusiastic, like-minded people.

The health and safety of staff and volunteers is our highest priority during this volunteer event. Mask wearing and social distancing will be practiced.

No experience required. We provide training. Projects are suitable for ages 13 and up. Minors under age 18 must be accompanied by an adult parent/guardian to participate in this volunteer activity.

Capacity is limited for this small-group event, and pre-registration is required. If you sign-up, please show-up, or let us know, so that another volunteer can attend. All are welcome.

Mission Statement

Natural Lands is dedicated to saving open space, caring for nature, and connecting people to the outdoors... and each other.

Description

Natural Lands is a non-profit organization that works in eastern Pennsylvania and southern New Jersey to preserve and nurture nature’s wonders, and to create opportunities for joy and discovery in the outdoors for everyone. We’ve been at it since the early 1950s and, today, more than 5 million people live within five miles of lands under our permanent protection.

Our record of success is made possible by a team of dedicated volunteers, supporters, and professionals that combines passion for our mission with the experience and expertise to achieve meaningful results. Volunteers play a crucial role in assisting with land stewardship projects like tree planting, invasives removal, gardening, and more.
