Distanced. Not Disconnected! Food Bank Driver (St. Francis Terrace - Sacramento)

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: Mercy Housing California

In response to the COVID-19 epidemic, Mercy Housing has shifted our resident service priorities to focus on the immediate needs of residents. Many of our residents are coping, as most Americans, with the stress of isolation, lost income and jobs, struggles to meet immediate food and household essential needs, school closures, and children needing to develop remote learning routines.

Food insecurity is one of the most pressing needs and YOU can help us meet those needs all while feeling connected to the community in a fulfilling way!

Our monthly food bank is well utilized, which often makes it difficult for staff to transport, move and distribute alone. Join us and roll up your sleeves to organize and help with food pick-up and delivery and/or distribution. Volunteers like you make it possible!

Distributions are every 4th Thursday to help those in need access healthy food.
Volunteer Drivers must have availability between 8:00am - 10:00am
Volunteers helping with food distribution must have availability between 10:00am - 12:00pm.

We will practice safe social distance protocols, and we ask that all volunteers bring a mask and gloves.

Mercy Housing California at St. Francis Terrace is an affordable housing community serving 60 households in Sacramento, California.

About Mercy Housing California

Location:

1360 Mission Street,, Suite 300, San Francisco, CA 94103, US

Mission Statement

To create stable, vibrant and healthy communities by developing, financing and operating affordable, program-enriched housing for families, seniors and people with special needs who lack the economic resources to access quality, safe housing opportunities.

Description

Mercy Housing was founded in 1981 in response to the lack of stable, affordable housing for vulnerable populations. In working to fulfill our mission, Mercy Housing California has developed more than 154 affordable housing communities in 36 counties throughout California, providing 17,000+ homes and serving over 24,000 people in need.

Mercy's commitment to program-enriched housing distinguishes us from many other large scale affordable housing developers. Housing is foundational - everyone needs a home. But many people who have endured poverty and other challenges need an additional hand-up to create the lives they want for themselves and their families. Our dedicated staff and volunteers work with residents right in their homes and neighborhoods on issues like health and wellness, housing stability, financial security as well as provide a full range of enriching out-of-school time options for youth.
