Position: Volunteer Office Assistant
Volunteer Reports To: Director of Operations
Job Status: Volunteer, Part-time - 3-4 Hours/week
Hours: Flexible
Location: Independence, OH
POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for providing support to the Chapter by performing a variety of administrative and office support tasks. This is an ideal position for someone with excellent attention to detail and interest in working in an office setting.
POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- General clerical duties including photocopying, scanning and processing mail
- Filing
- Supply inventory
Other duties as assigned
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Communication and administrative skills.
- Exceptional time-management, planning, and administrative skills.
- Ability to organize and prioritize workload.
- High degree of energy, self-motivation, and flexibility.

Mission Statement
The mission of ALSA Northeast Ohio Chapter is to maximize the quality of life for individuals with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (Lou Gehrig's Disease) and their families by providing direct services and support, disseminating medical information, funding national research for a cure, educating medical professionals and promoting general awareness of ALS. ALSA also engages in fund raising activities in order to support its programs.
Description
The Northeast Ohio Chapter of the ALS Association (ALSA) serves patients with ALS and their families by providing direct services and funding national medical research for a cure. ALSA manages a medical equipment loan bank which offers durable medical equipment such as wheelchairs, hospital beds and communication devices to ALS patients. ALSA provides specialized nursing consultation services to patients and families. ALSA has monthly support group meetings where patients and families can receive advice from clinical professionals and share resources. ALSA distributes current medical and disease management information. ALSA funds national medical research for a cure.
