Summary

We are looking for a volunteer to help us plan, organize, and support all of Straight Talk’s fundraising including, major gifts, corporate sponsorships, special events, and capital campaigns. The Development Volunteer will assist the Outreach Manager contact potential donors, create and maintain a donor database, and identify other funding streams. A successful candidate will have strong interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills, knowledge and experience with fundraising techniques, and a desire to take initiative and manage numerous projects simultaneously. This position can be fulfilled partly remotely and the volunteer can choose their own schedule, given reliable communication with relevant managers and the volunteer coordinator.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Identify prospective individual and corporate donors and develop strategies to cultivate those relationships.
  • Maintain ongoing communications with private and corporate donors.
  • Collaborate with staff on the management and planning of fundraising events and donor receptions.
  • Research donor relation programs at local, state, and federal art institutions.
  • Answer donor and staff inquiries in a timely fashion.

Requirements

  • Proven track record of, or interest in, raising funds from diverse sources, including major gifts from individuals, foundations, corporations and government agencies.
  • Must present a professional appearance and a friendly manner.
  • Must be dependable and punctual.
  • Respect and maintain confidentiality of Straight Talk Clinic’s volunteers, partners, and donors.
  • Demonstrated commitment to accountability, measuring outcomes, and a results-oriented culture.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, supervision, administration and management skills.
  • Familiarity with donor tracking systems.
  • Ability to work with diverse groups of people.

Straight Talk Clinic is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization founded in 1971 to serve families and individuals seeking low or no-cost counseling services and mental health treatment, and/or related services. Our organization have launched numerous programs and developed a variety of specialized services for the disadvantaged populations with limited resources. We have been a pioneer to promote and provide accessible, affordable and effective prevention and intervention services for children and families across Orange County. Straight Talk Clinic’s sliding-fee scale, evening and weekend hours counseling programs address the special needs of low-income groups including children, adolescents, parents, couples, and seniors.
