It’s time to start planning for the Alzheimer's Association's 2021 Walk to End Alzheimer’s in Tupelo - and time to convene our Planning Committee! This group of dedicated volunteers is at the heart of every Walk to End Alzheimer’s event. The Planning Committee works together to develop and grow the event - advancing the fight against Alzheimer’s from the ground up. Right now, we’re searching for a motivated and passionate person to help lead this effort as the Event Co-Chair!

The Event Co-Chair assists the Event Chair with recruiting, training and leading the committee while focusing on reaching Walk goals. This position supports and enhances the Event Chair’s role and can step in when the Event Chair is unable to attend a meeting, event or activity.

The Event Co-Chair will report to the Event Chair and should meet these qualifications:

  • Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Goal-driven and results-oriented.
  • Strong networking skills and knowledge of key individuals in the community.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Event Chair in recruiting all Subcommittee Chair positions and additional committee members. This includes partnering with the Event Chair on the planning of the Volunteer Kickoff Party and Committee Orientation.
  • Partner with the Event Chair to establish committee meeting dates, times and locations. If/When the Event Chair is unavailable, plan, lead and facilitate committee meetings.
  • Assist the Event Chair in the delegation of tasks to committee members. This position may also help maintain regular communication with the Walk Planning Committee members to ensure everyone understands expectations and is on target to meet goals.
  • Work with Event Chair and staff partner to make certain there is a focus on engaging companies within the community to partner with Walk to End Alzheimer’s.
  • Assist the Event Chair with the post-Walk debrief with committee members to determine ideas and areas of improvement for next year.
