GIRLS ON THE RUN OF THE SHENANDOAH VALLEY

  • 2 people are interested

**Please Note - Virtual Volunteers must be in the Greater Winchester, Harrisonburg, or Eastern Panhandle Region. If you do not reside in this area, we encourage you to look up your local GOTR Council!**

Our volunteer coaches are the heart & sole of our program!

Each spring (~March-May) and fall (~Sept-Nov), our coaches lead groups of 8-20 girls (reduced to 5-10 during covid) through our award winning curriculum. For 10 weeks (reduced to 8 during covid), our fully trained coaches (we provide all your training!) meet with their teams twice/week for about 1.5 hours to mentor the girls mentally, emotionally, and physically. Our curriculum lessons are all laid out for you (in other words - no lesson planning!), and teach life-skills in a fun & active way! While discussing topics that build self-confidence, perseverance/grit, guide good decision making, and boost joy, girls are also training for an end-of-season 5k that is fun for everyone!

This is SO MUCH MORE than a running program (and many of our coaches and girls aren't "runners") - it is a LIFE program!

Coach registration is open for the upcoming spring season! Learn more & sign up now @ https://www.girlsontherunsv.org/Coach

We anticipate the need for both in-person coaches and 100% virtual coaches.

Please sign up NO LATER THAN Feb 15 for the spring season!

Reach out to Dia Russell, Program Director @ dia.russell@girlsontherun.org with any questions.
