Volunteer Delivery Driver

Save to Favorites

Cleveland County Mental Health Association

NOTE: To apply for this volunteer opportunity, complete an application ONLINE (https://clevelandcountymha.org/compeer-volunteer-application).

Compeer is seeking volunteers who can work for 1 - 3 hours once a month to deliver packages as a part of our Community Supported Friendship Project.

Community Supported Friendship (or CSF) is a project created in response to the Coronavirus pandemic. Many of our Compeer participants do not have access to computers, the internet, or smartphones that are now critical for distanced social connection. Simultaneously, those of us with access to these forms of technology are often experiencing technology burn out after months of distanced communication. Through the sharing of creative gifts and storytelling, the CSF project aims to:

Provide a concrete point of connection, based on shared interests, to our Compeer participants in the form of a CSF gift box delivered to their door each month.

Promote community-wide creativity and self-care practices through this unique volunteer opportunity.
This is where you come in. We need drivers to deliver these creative gifts to the doorstep of our Compeer participants.

Drivers should be 18 years or older. To apply:

1) Complete this application online (https://clevelandcountymha.org/compeer-volunteer-application) OR
Print and mail this completed paper volunteer application to PO Box 623 Shelby, NC 28151 or fax to 704-448-2016

2) Meet the Compeer coordinator for an interview.

3) Pass a criminal background & reference check.

4) Complete a two-hour orientation/training.

Delivery drivers are required to be 18+, get a background check and reference check, and participate in a 2-hour long training, as is standard with other One-to-One Friendship and Phone Friends volunteers.

Drivers are expected to follow appropriate CDC/Cleveland County Health Department guidelines. This includes wearing an approved mask, maintaining at least 6 feet of distance from others, not entering anyone’s personal residence, and washing your hands or using hand sanitizer when acting as a Compeer volunteer.

Since drivers are making deliveries to individual residents, they are required to adhere to MHA’s strict confidentiality guidelines.
