ENGin, a rapidly growing nonprofit startup, is seeking a Director of Partnerships for our peer-to-peer English language program. This role is a unique opportunity to help run and grow an organization while positively impacting the lives of thousands of students. This is a part-time, virtual volunteer position with a flexible schedule; the approximate time commitment is 5-8 hours/week.

ENGin matches English learners with fluent English speakers for weekly online speaking practice. Both our learners and our volunteers are high school and college students. For students, ENGin is a unique chance to learn to speak fluent English - an essential skill they can't develop in school or through self-study. ENGin opens doors to top academic and professional opportunities, changing students' lives.

For volunteers, ENGin is a flexible and rewarding volunteer position and an ideal way to fulfill service requirements. The Director of Partnerships will work with schools, colleges, and universities to grow ENGin’s volunteer force. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Contact and follow up with service organizations, including college community service centers, National Honor Societies at high schools, etc.
  • Introduce ENGin to school/college administrators, learn about their volunteer programs, and determine best ways to collaborate
  • Support partners, providing information, serving as a point of contact for interested students, and answering questions as needed.

Qualifications

  • Critical Thinking: You should be able to understand and think deeply about ENGin’s program, and determine the best way we can meet partners’ needs
  • Attention to Detail: This role involves tasks that will directly affect hundreds of people. Thus, a high level of responsibility and commitment to quality work product is essential.
  • Excellent Oral and Written Communication Skills: You should be prepared to communicate professionally with potential and current partners via phone and email.
  • Flexibility: You should be comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment with shifting priorities, changing processes, etc.
  • Motivation: You should be comfortable working independently without close oversight of every detail.

Mission Statement

ENGin Ukrainian youth with English speakers for free online conversation practice and cross-cultural connection. We're helping a generation of Ukrainian youth improve their spoken English and intercultural skills, equipping them to access academic and professional opportunities.

Description

Our program was founded to fill a major gap in English-language education in Ukraine: while many Ukrainians study English grammar and vocabulary in school, few have access to high-quality, affordable opportunities to practice the essential skill of speaking.

ENGin allows volunteers to make an impact without leaving their rooms while also expanding their cultural horizons. We work with volunteers ages 14+; the commitment starts at 1 hour/week
