ENGin, a rapidly growing nonprofit startup, is seeking a Chief Technology Officer for our peer-to-peer English language program. This role is a unique opportunity to help lead and grow an organization while positively impacting the lives of thousands of students. This is a part-time, volunteer position with an approximate time commitment of 5-10 hours/week.
Responsibilities include:
We are looking for an experienced candidate who has led prior complex development projects, ideally in the education space. We are open to a shorter- or longer-term commitment depending on your availability.
A bit more about us and the project: ENGin matches fluent English speakers with English learners abroad for weekly online speaking practice. Currently, we use a Google Sheets database and Google forms to manage our multi-step onboarding process (applications, interviews, program agreement, and matching algorithm to pair learners and volunteers). We also rely on this system to support all active students and volunteers.
As we have reached 2,000+ participants and continue to grow rapidly, we need a more robust system to keep operating. We would like to transfer our data to a real database, develop a mobile app for learners and volunteers to sign up and participate in the program (iOS and Android), and create a web app for our team members to interact with the database.

ENGin is a peer-to-peer ESL program providing free, high-quality speaking practice for English learners while offering English speakers a flexible and rewarding volunteer opportunity.
ENGin matches fluent English speakers with Ukrainian students who need to improve their spoken English. Our program was founded to fill a major gap in English-language education in Ukraine: while many teenagers study English grammar and vocabulary in school, few have access to high-quality, affordable opportunities to practice the essential skill of speaking.
ENGin allows volunteers to make an impact without leaving their rooms while also expanding their cultural horizons. We work with volunteers ages 14-22; the commitment starts at 1-2 hours a week.
We'll work with your schedule.
This is a Virtual Opportunity, with no fixed address.
