Looking to volunteer and get paid? El Sol Neighborhood Education Center is looking for people who are looking to volunteer as a Community Health Worker in the San Bernardino County.

El Sol's purpose for the volunteers is under the supervision of the Team Leader, the Community Health Worker will conduct outreach, distribute COVID-19 fliers & educational materials, link the community to testing sites, referrals and resources needed as well as to connect residents with county contact tracers.

POSITION: Community Health Worker - SB DPH COVID-19

SALARY: $15.00-$16.00 per hour (Hours vary)

BENEFITS: Sick time

AREAS:

San Bernardino West Valley (6), San Bernardino Central-East valley & East Desert (6), High Desert (6)

JOB RESPONSABILITIES:

  • Plan, develop, prepared and conduct outreach community
  • Refer residents to county testing sites and/or to the county’s tracer program.
  • Phone contacting with residents placed in isolation or quarantine to receive emotional and social support.
  • Distribute COVID-19 flyers, brochures, and other printed educational materials to community residents.
  • Serve as an advocate to mentor community members how to be self-sufficient in finding accessible community resources.
  • Complete and submit all necessary documentation to Team Leader.
  • Attendance meetings with Team Leader
  • Continuously expands knowledge and understanding of community resources and services.
  • Works collaboratively and effectively within a team.
  • Establishes positive, supportive relationships with participants and provides feedback to other members of the team.
  • Builds and maintains positive working relationships with the clients, providers, agency representatives, supervisors, and office staff, from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
  • Attends any required trainings.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Organizational skills
  • Detail-oriented
  • Excellent public speaking skills
  • Reliable transportation
  • Flexibility, positive attitude, and willingness to serve their community
  • Community work experience (1 year minimum)
  • Basic computer skills
  • Minimum of a high school education or equivalent
  • Valid Driver’s License, Car Insurance, and Car Registration
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)
