Women Just Like Me provides supportive services and resources to at-risk girls, young mothers, and families in disadvantaged communities with programs and services that focuses on teen-pregnancy prevention, personal and social development, healthy parenting, and family well-being. The organization offers critical needed services to address disparities that African American girls and young women face in today's society. We are welcoming individuals the opportunity to apply and be part of our organization! Job Description
- Analyze and approve annual budgets, audit reports, and material business decisions with the Chair and Treasurer.
- Assisting the Chair in sourcing, selecting and recruitment process of new board members and board of directors.
- Assist the Vice Chair in the planning process and preparation of board meeting agenda's.
- Serve and support the organization in making decisions on programming, budgets, and opportunities in favor of the organizations mission and objectives.
- Review outcomes and metrics created by the Executive Director for evaluating its impact, and regularly measuring performance and effectiveness using those metrics; reviewing agenda's, and supporting materials prior to the board and committee meetings.
A Board member will service a two -year term to be eligible for reappointment. Board meetings are typically held once a month.
Must not serve on the Board of an organization (within Ohio) that have activities, or objectives that are similar to the Women Just Like Me.
Qualifications
- This is a prime opportunity for the individual whose passionate and persistent in creating opportunities in education, training, and advancement for women and girls.
- Individual must have a track record of volunteerism, board leadership, and demonstrates the abilities to work cohesively as a team.
- Must demonstrate the ability to assess and determine the impact of programs and services.
- Strong communication and writing abilities are required.
- 4 year degree in Business, Technology or Accounting is required or certification or 2 year degree in non profit education.
- Background check is required for all board applicants, volunteers, and employees of Women Just Like Me.

To provide supportive services and resources to girls, young mothers and families in disadvantaged communities by establishing programs and workshops that promote healthy parenting, health, and family well-being and preventive measures to decrease the rate of teen pregnancy.
Description
- Founder and Innovator of the VISA Program/ Victory In Sustaining Abstinence (VISA) is designed to empower girls in Franklin County to provide preventive services for youth and supportive services for pregnant and parenting teens between the ages of 9-21 years of age. The objective of the program is to educate girls and female adolescence grades 5 th-8 th on reproductive health by promoting healthy options, risk associated with unprotected sex, and continued efforts of lowering the teen pregnancy rate. The VISA program is a series of modules facilitated by women professionals that either licensed/certified on the subject matter and teach from personal experiences on the various topics that are discussed in these workshops. The VISA program was created to be informative and fun by encouraging engagement and interaction from program participate while allowing participants to receive reward points as they progress through this program. Throughout the duration of modules program participants are able to obtain credits (incentives) which will be applied to their VISA cards, provided by Women Just Like Me.
