Yolo County CASA
The Yolo County Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) program recruits, screens, and trains community volunteers to advocate and mentor youth in juvenile justice system. In support of this mission, Yolo County CASA is committed to the following: * Advocate for the best interests of children * Recruit volunteers to act as Court Appointed Special Advocates * Provide comprehensive training programs to educate volunteer advocates * Provide ongoing support to CASA staff and volunteers * Create maintain public awareness and educate the community regarding child abuse and neglect * Provide advocacy networking and liaison with public and private agencies and individuals * Act in liaison with, and at the direction of the Juvenile Court Judge

CASAs are volunteers that work directly with an appointed foster youth throughout Yolo County. CASAs get to know their appointed youth by visiting and engaging in fun activities once a week. They also gather important information from reports and professionals to advocate for the youth's best interests related to their education and well-being. Mission Statement

Yolo County CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) provides advocacy for children who have been abused, neglected or abandoned and placed into foster care in Yolo County. These children are making their way through the Child Welfare System as well as the Dependency Court process in Yolo County.


Yolo County CASA recruits and trains volunteers for the following programs;

  • Court Advocate- advocate for abused and neglected children in the Yolo County dependency court system. Speak on Behalf of their best interest in court

  • Background Check
  • Must be at least 21
  • Orientation or Training
  • 18 month commitment, 1-3 hours per week.
  • Ability to pass a background check.
