CASA for Children of Passaic County
In only 7 - 12 hours per month, you can make a difference in a child's life as a volunteer bilingual advocate.
More than fifty percent of children in the Passaic County foster care system identify as Hispanic. Unfortunately, there is a serious shortage of bilingual English/Spanish volunteers to advocate for their rights.
When a child enters foster care, he or she is assigned a dedicated, trained Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteer from Passaic County CASA. The child’s advocate ensures that their individual needs remain priority while they move through the child welfare system and the family court. CASAs work one-on-one with the abused or neglected child, gathering information from the family, caretakers, teachers, doctors, and caseworkers in order to make informed recommendations to the family court about the child’s future.
No experience or formal education needed!

Passaic County Court Appointed Special Advocates is an independent, non-profit organization that empowers volunteer advocates to champion the best interests of children involved in the child welfare system. CASA volunteers serve as a child's advocate in court and are committed to ensuring that needed services and assistance are made available to children in need.
Every year more than half a million abused and neglected children are in need of safe, permanent, nurturing homes. Right now in Passaic County, there are over 500 children in out of home foster care.
That's where CASA steps in. CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) was created in 1977 to make sure the abuse and neglect these children originally suffered at home doesn't continue as abuse and neglect at the hands of the system. As trained advocates, CASA volunteers are appointed by judges to be a voice for these children in court. The result is that a child has an individual advocate to speak for them in court.
It is the CASA vision to provide a volunteer for each and every abused and neglected child who needs one.
We'll work with your schedule.
