We are looking to grow our audio description team! Audio describers depict orally what happens on the screen or on stage for the blind and visually impaired so that they can enjoy audio-visual shows, live performances or sports events. They produce audio description scripts for programs and events and use their voice to record them.

What skills do I need to be an Audio Describer?

  • Sociable
  • Commitment
  • Communication
  • Attention to detail
  • Pronunciation techniques - must be able to pronounce words correctly for them to be understood
  • Synchronization with mouth movements
  • Punctuality - if you’re describing a theatre show you must be on time
  • Descriptive
  • Willingness to learn
We are looking to find volunteers who already posses this skillset, however we are also open to training new volunteers who are dedicated to learning this very important skill.

Free Tours
We encourage all interested persons to tour our facility prior to signing up as a volunteer. Tours are facilitated every Monday and Saturday, beginning at noon. Tours are free to the public.
