Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: American Red Cross Central California Region

What is this role?

Disasters don't stop during a pandemic. Every day, the American Red Cross assists people who face disasters. Disaster response team members support disaster relief operations to provide care, comfort, and hope to communities impacted by a devastating event such as a wildfire, tornado, hurricane, or flood. Activities to support evacuees at a shelter or hotel may include reception, registration, emotional support, feeding, dormitory, or information.

Why is the role important?

Our response teams are there to provide care and comfort to our communities that are displaced and impacted during disasters. We continue to have a record-breaking season for natural disasters that have caused the American Red Cross to provide more nights of emergency shelter than ever before in recorded history. Natural disasters can strike at any moment, so train now to be ready to respond when your community needs you most.

We have significantly altered our response methods to abide by the guidelines established by our local public health departments and the CDC to best protect the safety of our clients, volunteers and staff during COVID-19.

Requirements:

* 18+ years old
* Self-paced online training provided by the American Red Cross
* Comfortable and competent at working with diverse populations
* Flexible, team player, comfort with computers, willingness to respond, ability to be on-call, passion for volunteering and serving humanity in times of need
