Do you have any background, knowledge, skills in Art? Do you love painting? Do you enjoy doing arts and crafts?
Our Therapeutic Recreation Department at Hospital for Special Care has an Art Group programs on Tuesday's at 1:00-3:00.
Prefer to work one-on-one with a patient, we also have patients who need help participating in art/painting while in their room.
The patients work on individual projects of their choice using water color or acrylic paint and staff and volunteers provide support and assistance, as needed. They also enjoy doing various arts and crafts.
It would be helpful to have the volunteer come prior to group and stay after group for any prep and clean up needs.
The Therapeutic Recreation Department staff and volunteers assist patients as needed so they can participate to their best of their ability.
We are looking for individuals who are motivated from their heart to help others and are willing to be committed to volunteering.
This is an ideal volunteer opportunity for individuals interested in Therapeutic Recreation, Human Services or gaining experience in the healthcare field.
Complete training and support are provided.

Description
Hospital for Special Care is a private, not-for-profit, 228 bed Long-Term, Acute-Care hospital licensed by the state of CT. as a chronic disease hospital. The hospital is renowned for its expertise in physical rehabilitation, respiratory care and medically-complex pediatrics. In addition, special programs are available in the treatment of spinal cord injuries and illness, acquired brain injuries, strokes and breathing disorders.
We also provide a full range of outpatient services, including physical, occupational, and speech therapy, rehabilitation evaluation, neuropsychology and pulmonary rehabilitation programs. The hospital also includes a 27,000 foot Aquatic Rehabilitation Center, which completes the full spectrum of rehabilitation and community fitness activities offered.
We also have a 28 bed satellite facility located within Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center in Hartford, CT. The satellite serves patients who are medically or surgically complex and/or require specialized care.
