The Delivery Assistant is an essential way to provide meals to our community during a time of need. As a Delivery Assistant, you will pick up meals at our main campus, The Living Room, and delivering them on a pre-determined route to community members in Santa Rosa. This volunteer position would be ideal for a team of two. This position requires volunteers to have a reliable mode of transportation and current vehicle insurance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Delivery of hot meals to community members who are in need within a specific geographic area.
Checks in verbally with participants when delivering meals and reports back to the Kitchen Manager with any unusual circumstances. This volunteer serves as a critical link between TLR and the participants.
Reliable transportation & Current insurance
Has Effective written and oral communication with Kitchen Manager, other volunteers and staff members
Follows Social Distancing Protocols and adheres to all COVID-19 guidelines
Maintain correct temperatures for food by keeping food in the containers provided and keeping them closed during transport.
Record temperatures of hot and cold food at end of route (designated for one route per area).
Return empty containers to pick up point immediately after delivery and share information about client needs or problems with Kitchen Manager
Occasionally, deliver TLRs monthly letter, bag meals, diapers, and/or pet food with the meals
Notify the Kitchen Manager in advance if unable to deliver on an assigned day
Must support the mission, programs, and activities of The Living Room and act as an advocate for the organization
Minimum Qualifications:
To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty well. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Ability to frequently get in and out of a vehicle
May need to lift 25-40lb. boxes into car
Climb stairs if necessary
Desired Experience:
Experience in customer service or other experience answering questions and engaging with the public
Orientation and Training:
Required: General Orientation
Required: ServeSafe certification (we will provide this online training for you.)
