    Purpose and Duties:

    Would you like to brighten someone with a note? YOU CAN DO IT! You can help seniors in your community connect and fight isolation. Become a Pen Pals: Letters with Love Ambassador Coordinator.

    Each participant will create a happy spoon kit, which will be distributed in local assisted living communities for residents 55 and better.

    Time Commitment: Flexible

    Training/ Requirements for an Ambassador :

    • Lead and coordinate fellow seniors or Pen pals to fight isolation.
    • Gather participants and instructed them on how to start being a Letters with Love
    • Ensure participants fill out materials in their Letters with Love kit.
    • Monthly, mailed out the completes kits to the coordinator.

How to do a Happy Spoon kit?
    • Read the instructions in the kit.
    • Fill out the application included.
    • Write three letters to a senior telling them about yourself, maybe a joke, dedicate a poem or a riddle and let them know that they are loved. Making a difference can be so simple, yet it can be incredibly impactful!
    • Use creativity when decorating your letter and spoon. That utensil represents you! We included materials to help you.
    • Return completed kits to the ambassador.

Programs Offered Through Seniors in Service:


Foster Grandparent Program (FGP)

  • The Foster Grandparent Program recruits senior volunteers (55+) to go into schools and after-school programs to mentor at-risk and special needs children and provide them with one-on-one, individualized attention


Senior Companion Program (SCP)

  • The Senior Companion Program recruits senior volunteers (55+) to go into the homes of homebound, elderly clients and provide them with companionship and assistance.


Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP)

  • The RSVP Program recruits senior volunteers(55+) to participate more fully in the life of the community through volunteer service. The program matches the considerable wealth of knowledge, skills, and experience of this vital and rapidly growing age group with the addressing of critical needs and unresolved issues in our community.


Operation Veteran Connect

  • Provides companionship to veterans, enabling them to live independently. Supports the VA in supporting providing Whole Health support to veterans.
