Save to Favorites

Catholic Charities Atlanta

Make a big impact in someone's life! Help adults learn to speak English!

We are recruiting volunteers 18 and over with excellent English language skills to teach English virtually (with the expectation of a hybrid system starting later in the year). Volunteers teach to a group of adult students.

Morning classes are held twice a week: Mondays through Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

The ideal commitment we seek from volunteers is to teach in a virtual classroom ONCE A WEEK for an entire SEMESTER (approximately 5 months).

Volunteers should have: proficiency in Zoom (online training modules available), a professional demeanor, confidence in speaking/teaching to a group, an openness and appreciation for those from other cultures, ability to lead a class, and be highly dependable.

Prior to starting, volunteers attend a virtual orientation and trainings. Training includes learning the online curriculum, which is Burlington English. Volunteers will also shadow classes before being assigned their own class.

Volunteers must attend quarterly meetings to review updated materials and/or changes to the program.

To begin, there is a formal application which includes a background and reference check.
