The Benicia Community Action Council is participating in our annual Free Tax Program aka VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) and we need volunteers.
Put the V in VITA and volunteer with us!
We need volunteer tax preparers to certify with the IRS and file taxes for people with earned income.
Volunteers are trained to certify with the IRS (for free). No experience necessary. Many volunteers use this as an opportunity to build their resume.
This is an incredible opportunity to solve poverty through immediate impact. Recipients of this program have been proven to break out of poverty through accessing tax credits eligible for low income filers.
Be a part of this effective program and end poverty one tax return at a time.

Mission Statement
The mission of the Benicia Community Action Council is to provide resources and referrals to those striving for self- sufficiency. The Benicia CAC is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization founded in 1967 to provide services to the economically disadvantaged in Benicia, and surrounding areas. We verify income to ensure that 100% of our clients served are of low income. Through dedicated volunteers, and experienced staff we are able to offer a comprehensive range of services to promote self-sufficiency while providing essential needs.

At BCAC we offer a range of services to help people of our community meet their basic needs such as food and shelter.
We have programs which provide or connect clients to basic needs while working with their unique challenges.
We offer programs in the following areas and more:
-Home Delivered Meals
-Food Pantry
-Free Income Tax Filing
-Rental Assistance
-Transitional Housing
-Job Placement and Readiness

REQUIREMENTS
- Driver's License Needed
- Must be at least 18
- Orientation or Training
- We ask volunteers to commit at least one shift (of four hours) per week.
- Volunteers must get certified to file as part of this program through the IRS. We provide study materials and train volunteers to utilize a real world skill. The certification is theirs to keep.
