An orphanage is never the best situation for a child. Adults who were raised in orphanages have been found to be... 10% more likely to become a sex worker. 40% more likely to have a criminal background 500% more likely to commit suicide. Adults raised in orphanages also are more likely to develop mental illnesses and to become addicts and abusers. Eventually, their children are much more likely to be placed in orphanages themselves. One thing is clear, orphanages don't work. This is why family-based foster care, where children are taken into a family and treated and loved and cared for, is a much better solution. We are launching a foster program and hoping to place all of our children into Christian foster homes. To do this, we need to be able to give impoverished families a stipend so that they can provide for their child. That means we will need sponsors! We are looking for volunteer advocates who can reach out to family, friends, churches, schools, organizations, social media, etc to help us find sponsors and give children loving families.

A foster program will positively effect children's mental health. When raised in a family, they are much more likely themselves to one day create a safe, healthy, loving family; therefore keeping more children out of orphanages and off the streets. We will also be able to invest in the foster families and help them overcome poverty. This will make it possible for us to place more street children with permanent families and advocate to other orphanages urging them to follow our model.
