During these uncertain times, how can we help?

Help a Hospice patient have a haircut! Beauticians or hairstylists needed to cut a Hospice patient's hair. The patient will have their hair freshly washed and ready for a trim! An aide or nurse will be present if necessary. Many patients are not able to leave their home to have their hair cut and need to have the service provided at the location they call home (private home, nursing home, assisted living facility, etc.). An orientation to Hospice and information about the patient is provided once onboarded.

Hospice care at UnityPoint is a coordinated care approach between a medical director, physician, nurse and others who all work together to provide the right plan of care to improve the quality of life for the patient. The hospice team is supportive in every way necessary to honor the wishes of the patient. Hospice is not about giving up hope; it is about doing everything possible to live life to its full capacity.
UnityPoint Hospice volunteers are an integral part of the Hospice care team. Volunteers can provide direct and indirect patient support. Direct support includes: bedside companionship, respite care for the family, patient life review, supportive phone calls, letter writing to the patient, hand massage, listening to music, playing a musical instrument, pet therapy. Indirect support includes: running errands, greeting and screening visitors at Taylor House, administrative tasks, answering phones, etc. We work with each volunteer to help determine the right fit and area in which to help.
We'll work with your schedule.
