Overview:

We are looking for an enthusiastic nutritionist with a passion for working with young children to co-facilitate classes. The Nutritionist Instructor will co-facilitate our fitness class along with our Instructor for the winter semester starting January 2022.

Volunteer Duties:

  • Assist in conducting classes for a group of young children once or twice per week for our winter semester (January-May 2022).

  • Assist the Instructor to draft a full curriculum that outlines all lessons from week-to-week and materials needed to perform projects.

  • Teach students the fundamentals of nutrition and dietetic plans for a healthy lifestyle.

  • Assess students’ nutritional needs & oversee their meal planning and make recommendations for healthier eating if needed .

  • Complete weekly session notes to update program administrators on the outcome of each class.

  • Regularly communicate with parents to provide updates on their child’s progress, reminders about upcoming sessions, materials list for individual sessions, and other communications as needed.

  • Maintain consistent communication with the supervisor via email and participation in scheduled facilitator meetings to update on student progress, class attendance, etc.

Volunteer Requirements:

    • Prior experience as Nutritionist

    • Patience to work with young children and teens preferred

    • Strong interpersonal & communication skills

    • A degree or certification related to the field is a plus but not required

    • Must be 18+ years old

Location: 2163 Dean Street, Brooklyn, NY

Hours of work and duration of commitment: Must be available 5 hours per week (Monday - Friday) between the hours of 2 pm and 6 pm EST. Minimum 3-month commitment from January through March 2022.
