Citizens’ Climate Lobby (CCL) is a nonprofit, grassroots advocacy organization focused on
national policies to address climate change. We emphasize a respectful, nonpartisan
approach to climate education to create a broad, sustainable foundation for climate action
across all geographic regions and political inclinations. With 612 local chapters in
congressional districts around the United States, we empower everyday citizens with the
tools and resources to inspire their elected representatives, local media, and community to
build the political will for the climate solutions we all need.
CCL’s Boston chapter is looking for a volunteer Social Media Manager to help manage and
grow our existing Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts. Through social media, we
hope to:
- inform our current members about local climate action
- attract new members
- develop relationships with local media, business owners, and community leaders
available to provide guidance to the Social Media Manager on these objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Manage accounts and posts on a day-to-day basis
- Attend 1-hour long monthly Social Media meetings and CCL Boston Chapter meetings
- Engage with followers through likes, comments, shares, etc.
- Maintain a friendly, professional, non-partisan tone on all posts and comments
(and enjoys using) Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. We are looking for a self-directed
person who is able to commit 2-4 hours per week. Any prior experience with social media
management, Canva, or other graphic design is highly appreciated but not required. This is a great opportunity for anyone looking to gain demonstrable social media experience and/or
contribute to meaningful climate advocacy work at a national nonprofit!
This volunteer position is fully remote, although we are looking for someone in the Boston
area.
