With your help, Sea Island Habitat for Humanity is dedicated to eliminating substandard housing locally through constructing, rehabilitating, and preserving homes; by advocating for fair and just housing policies; and by providing training and access to resources to help families improve their shelter conditions.

Whether you can volunteer once a week, or only once a month, we need your hands and your heart to help further our mission. No experience is necessary, and we provide all the tools and training! Our job-site is a great time for all, so fair warning: You'll love volunteering with us so much that you'll come back over and over!

We plan to complete 6 new homes this year and we are working as fast and safely as we can to address the MANY needed Critical Home Repairs.

About Sea Island Habitat for Humanity

Location:

2545 Bohicket Road, Johns Island, SC 29455, US

Mission Statement

Sea Island Habitat for Humanity, the third-oldest Habitat for Humanity affiliate in the world, is an independent, nonprofit, ecumenical, Christian housing ministry that has served its community as an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International since 1978 and has provided housing for over 320 local families. We build simple, safe, decent homes for families that need a hand up, not a hand out.

Description

Sea Island Habitat for Humanity relies on volunteers to achieve its goals of building new homes for families in need. It takes about 2000 hours of volunteer time to build a Habitat house. We build Tuesday-Saturday, and have all the tools and instruction you need!
You can also volunteer on Critical Home Repairs to help weatherize homes.

The Sea Island Habitat for Humanity ReStore is to generate funds to build Habitat homes on the sea islands of South Carolina; to recycle usable furniture, furnishings, household items, and building materials for purchase at reasonable prices; and to promote awareness of the program and work of Sea Island Habitat for Humanity.
