ORGANIZATION: NEWDAY Sanctuary

NEWDAY Sanctuary’s mission is to create a loving, safe and stable homestead where youth and animals can heal, learn and grow the foundational skills for a thriving and hopeful future.

Summary:

NEWDAY is looking for a Board of Director to join our team. As a Board member you will support the work of NEWDAY and provide mission-based leadership strategic governance. While day-to-day operations are led by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Board to CEO relationship is a partnership, and the appropriate involvement of the Board is both critical and expected. Board Members serve a three-year term to be eligible for re-appointment for one additional term. Board and committee meetings are held bi-monthly and expected to give 5-10 hours per month.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO as they develop and implement strategic plan
  • Review outcomes and metrics created by NEWDAY for evaluating its impact, and regularly measure performance and effectiveness using those metrics
  • Review agenda and supporting materials prior to board and committee meetings
  • Approve annual budget, audit reports, and material business decisions; being informed of, and meeting all, legal and fiduciary responsibilities
  • Contribute to an annual performance evaluation of the CEO
  • Assist the CEO and board chair in identifying and recruiting other Board Members
  • Serve on committees or task forces and taking on special assignments
  • Represent NEWDAY to stakeholders; acting as an ambassador for the organization
  • Ensure commitment to a diverse board and staff that reflects the community serves
  • NEWDAY expects all Board members to make an annual financial contribution that is commensurate with their capacity

Requirements:

  • Extensive professional experience with significant executive leadership accomplishments in business, government, philanthropy, or the nonprofit sector
  • Savvy diplomatic skills and a natural affinity for cultivating relationships and persuading, convening, facilitating, and building consensus among diverse individuals
  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a passion for improving the lives of NEWDAY’s beneficiaries

Newday Sanctuary was founded with the vision to build programs that gives youth a place to visit where they can have personal experience of connection with the rescue animals on the homestead. We are a startup nonprofit looking for a vast array of volunteers to help push us into production so we can start positively impacting the communities in Minnesota.
