Summary:

NEWDAY is looking for a Treasurer for the Board of Directors. The Treasurer will work closely with the Board President and the CEO in the fiscal planning, decision making and oversight at a governance level. In addition to the Board Member responsibilities, the Treasurer of the Board will:

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the development of high level financial policies and their review by the board
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and its presentation to the board for review
  • Ensure that the appropriate financial statements are reviewed by the board
  • Ensure that the board regularly monitors the organization’s financial performance and alerts it to any important discrepancies between planned and actual figures
  • Ensure that the organization maintains the appropriate financial books, records and that these are accurate and up-to-date
  • Ensure that government tax filings and remittances are submitted on a timely basis
  • Serve as a co-signer of checks with at least one another signing officer
  • Ensure that excess funds and reserves are properly held and invested
  • Chair the Financial Committees and participate in the Executive Committee
  • Officer terms are one year and can be renewed up to six years

Requirements:

  • An understanding of and experience with good financial management and reporting practices
  • A professional accounting designation may be required
  • An appreciation of the kind and level of financial information needed at a board level to support decision making
  • At least 1 year of board leadership experience
  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a passion for improving the lives of NEWDAY’s beneficiaries

Newday Sanctuary was founded with the vision to build programs that gives youth a place to visit where they can have personal experience of connection with the rescue animals on the homestead. We are a startup nonprofit looking for a vast array of volunteers to help push us into production so we can start positively impacting the communities in Minnesota.
