NEWDAY Sanctuary’s mission is to create a loving, safe and stable homestead where youth and animals can heal, learn and grow the foundational skills for a thriving and hopeful future.
NEWDAY is looking for a Treasurer for the Board of Directors. The Treasurer will work closely with the Board President and the CEO in the fiscal planning, decision making and oversight at a governance level. In addition to the Board Member responsibilities, the Treasurer of the Board will:
Oversee the development of high level financial policies and their review by the board
Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and its presentation to the board for review
Ensure that the appropriate financial statements are reviewed by the board
Ensure that the board regularly monitors the organization’s financial performance and alerts it to any important discrepancies between planned and actual figures
Ensure that the organization maintains the appropriate financial books, records and that these are accurate and up-to-date
Ensure that government tax filings and remittances are submitted on a timely basis
Serve as a co-signer of checks with at least one another signing officer
Ensure that excess funds and reserves are properly held and invested
Chair the Financial Committees and participate in the Executive Committee
Officer terms are one year and can be renewed up to six years
An understanding of and experience with good financial management and reporting practices
A professional accounting designation may be required
An appreciation of the kind and level of financial information needed at a board level to support decision making
At least 1 year of board leadership experience
Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a passion for improving the lives of NEWDAY’s beneficiaries

Newday Sanctuary was founded with the vision to build programs that gives youth a place to visit where they can have personal experience of connection with the rescue animals on the homestead. We are a startup nonprofit looking for a vast array of volunteers to help push us into production so we can start positively impacting the communities in Minnesota.
