NEWDAY Sanctuary’s mission is to create a loving, safe and stable homestead where youth and animals can heal, learn and grow the foundational skills for a thriving and hopeful future.

Summary:

NEWDAY is looking for a Board President to lead the Board of Directors. As a partner to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and other board members, the Board President will provide leadership to NEWDAY Nonprofit as it transitions from a newly formed 501(c)(3) organization into a sustainable state wide entity. The Board President will support and sustain the work of NEWDAY by providing governance leadership and strategic fundraising support. In addition to the Board Member responsibilities, the Board President will:

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate an annual performance evaluation of the CEO
  • Chair the Executive Committee
  • Periodically consult with board members on their roles and helping them assess their performance and grow engagement
  • Plan and facilitate board and committee meetings
  • Partner with the CEO to ensure that board resolutions are carried out
  • Act as an ambassador for the organization
  • Ensure NEWDAY’s commitment to a diverse board and staff that reflects the community we serve
  • Ensure that 100 percent of board members make an annual financial contribution that is commensurate with their capacity
  • Identify, qualify and cultivate major individual donors, corporate, and/or foundation gifts
  • Officer terms are one year and can be renewed up to six years

Requirements:

  • Extensive professional experience with significant executive leadership accomplishments in business, government, philanthropy, or the nonprofit sector
  • At least 2 years of board leadership experience
  • Savvy diplomatic skills and a natural affinity for cultivating relationships and persuading, convening, facilitating, and building consensus among diverse individuals
  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a passion for improving the lives of NEWDAY’s beneficiaries

Newday Sanctuary was founded with the vision to build programs that gives youth a place to visit where they can have personal experience of connection with the rescue animals on the homestead. We are a startup nonprofit looking for a vast array of volunteers to help push us into production so we can start positively impacting the communities in Minnesota.
