Chapter Partnerships/Development Director

Organizes implementation of individualized chapter fundraising strategy. Acts as a liaison between chapter members and National to pass up large scale partnership opportunities.

ChickTech is a national nonprofit dedicated to retaining womxn (female-identifying, non-binary and transgender women) in the technology workforce and increasing the number of womxn pursuing technology-based careers through signature programs for K-12 students and career level adults. The overarching goal of ChickTech is to increase diversity and inclusion within the technology culture through broadening the pipeline of underrepresented populations entering careers through non-traditional pathways, and increasing retention of these populations through a supportive community focused on enhancing career, leadership, inclusion, and engagement within and beyond the workplace. By building and enhancing an intergenerational community, ChickTech is ensuring companies can find untapped talent from diverse communities across the country while also building skills and interest for future generations to excel and create a diverse tech workforce.

The ChickTech Chapter Development Directors are passionate about the mission, excited about sharing the value of ChickTech and being an Ambassador in their personal and professional networks. This co-lead volunteer role is responsible for implementing the strategic fundraising plan created uniquely for that chapter. This strategy can include building partnerships with local businesses that also share a passion for the mission, working with the chapter’s ACT-W Director to host monthly chapter events, and raising funds to support chapter programs and operations. This includes researching and building relationships with potential donors and partners, organizing fundraising events, and recommending and implementing fundraising and partnership strategies and goals.

Note: This is an unpaid volunteer position with options to work remotely.

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • A passion for the ChickTech mission
  • The desire to act as an ambassador in their personal and professional networks
  • Prior fundraising or sales experience
  • Excellent interpersonal skills that establish and maintain credibility and relationships
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent problem solving skills, ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Good strategic and tactical thinking
  • The ability to work in a collaborative style and move others to action by planning, motivating and organizing work tasks

Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring effective implementation of the Chapter’s Fundraising & Development Plan
  • Building and maintaining relationships with Chapter ACT-W event attendees & volunteers
  • Identifying and building relationships with potential corporate partners through in-person or virtual meetings and events, personal and professional connections, and other networking methods
  • Working with ChickTech marketing and outreach team members to increase awareness of the ChickTech organization by e-mail/web marketing, word-of-mouth at local conferences and other events, and other means
  • Developing fundraising strategies, which may include organizing fundraising events, web-based Peer-to-Peer campaigns, grant applications and others
  • Working with marketing team members to develop appropriate solicitation materials and other correspondence and acknowledgements
  • Tracking and analyzing past fundraising efforts using ChickTech databases to measure effectiveness and forecasting for future fundraising needs
  • Working with the volunteer management team to build a team to assist in fundraising duties and outreach
  • Managing the donor database to ensure chapter’s contact information is current and donor contact preferences are honored

Expected time commitment: 5-10 hours/week. We ask that all leadership team members commit to one year of being on the team if possible, although less can be negotiated. Please be honest about your time commitments, while we realize it is difficult to forecast what you may be doing four or five months out, we ask potential leadership team members to try their best to upfront with any conflicts, either work or personal. ChickTech is a multi-generational community helping each other become technology creators. We facilitate hands-on technology-centric events and mentorship to empower, support, and increase the confidence of girls, women, and non-binary folks. Through our programs, we build community, empower participants to see themselves as leaders, and provide networking and mentoring opportunities in the rapidly growing tech industry.

As a mostly volunteer-run non-profit, we are always searching for partners who would like to get involved through donations of expertise, volunteer time, in-kind, funding, or just by helping to get the word out.
