Many seniors are in the high-risk category for COVID-19 transmission, especially those with preexisting conditions.

If you are 55 and older, we need your help. Homebound seniors and disabled adults have difficulty accessing affordable grocery delivery or pickup. We are delivering in Cache County from Richmond to Hyrum, from Lee's Marketplace and the Food Pantry.

Once matched with the client based on your geographic location, you are expected to:

-Check in with client once a week

-Confirm day and time for grocery delivery

-Confirm they have already paid over the phone with store

-Confirm they have designated you as pickup person with store

-Pick up groceries and transport them safely

-Ensure client is home with a response

-Drop off groceries at door step or just inside the door (do not enter the home unless if there is an emergency)

-Say a friendly hello/quick social check-in (you are likely the only person they have seen all day)

You will make a new friend, be able to safely serve during the pandemic, and feel good knowing you lifted the burden of someone else.

We reimburse gas mileage up to 30 miles per month, at 50 cents a mile. This is optional.

**You will never handle the client's payment information--that is done over the phone or online with the grocery store.

Volunteers undergo a background check (we pay for it) because you have access to a vulnerable population's personal information, such as address, name, and phone number.

Mission Statement

Combating senior loneliness, isolation, and hunger one volunteer at a time!

Description

RSVP of Cache & Rich Counties connects retired volunteers 55 and older to homebound, disabled, and lonely older adults and to family caregivers. We provide companionship phone calls, respite services, online caregiver tips, COVID-19 grocery delivery, and fidget quilts for people with cognitive impairment/dementia.

We only require our volunteers to serve an hour a week, with flexibility in schedules! We have kept volunteers engaged during COVID, making service accessible in their own homes.

AmeriCorps Seniors funds our program, and we are connected with Sunshine Terrace Foundation. We love to serve the community and keep our older adults engaged, happy, and fulfilled.
