Remote Overnight 4-hour Shifts Illinois Region Red Cross Disaster Response Dispatcher

Our Disaster Action Team (DAT) Duty Officers (previously called Dispatchers) receive incomiong calls and ensures timely activation and monitoring of local and regional disaster responses. The Duty Officer supports the DAT program and is a crusial part of the team that is needed to initiate Red Cross precence on scene to support clients impacted and affected by disasters.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Dispatch DAT members and monitor responses to ensure appropriate resources are made available
  2. Activate Disaster Health Services, Disaster Mental Health, and Disaster Spiritual Care when requested
  3. Notify Chapter and Regional staff of significant events, and contribute input to an Initial Incident Report, when appropriate
  4. Attends regularly scheduled team/DAT meetings as required by Chapter/Region

Qualifications:

  1. Be comfertable with computers and learning new computer systems
  2. Good verble and writen communicaiton; Active listening and documentation of converstaions with both responders and clients
  3. Work well under pressure and to possibly manage multiple calls

Time Commitment: (Overnight Shifts 12am-4am or 4am-8am)

  1. A minimum of two 4-hour shifts per week
