Volunteer and train with CTA to learn tax preparation. Contribute to your community while learning how to prepare taxes for low- and moderate-income tax filers, and learn basic tax law governing aspects of the return applicable to these tax filers.

Prepare a tax return from the beginning to the end. Learn the tax filing software CTA uses. Learn from experienced tax preparers, attorneys, and CPAs.

Go home feeling great about the work you've done and the people you've helped.

CTA will provide free, comprehensive basic and advanced tax training to all volunteers in a classroom setting led by highly-experienced instructors.

Additionally, help CTA run all aspects of a nonprofit organization, including management and strategy; volunteer and client recruitment; and fundraising.

Experience with CTA significantly enhances a resume or graduate school application.

Description

Community Tax Aid, Inc. (CTA) is a non-profit, tax-exempt, all-volunteer organization that provides free tax service to low-income taxpayers in New York City. We train all volunteers to be aware of the many special tax problems unique to low-income individuals, and the free training qualifies for CPE credit for CPAs.
