Call for Volunteers!

UN Women USA LA advocates on behalf of UN Women locally throughout the Los Angeles region. UN Women USA LA is currently seeking a motivated and dedicated Communications Director, who will be a board member assigned the responsibility for promoting and expanding the Chapter’s membership. Find us on social media @UNWomenLA

UN Women USA LA Communication Director roles and responsibilities include:

  • Develop public awareness of the chapter through press releases, marketing and media development;
  • Develop and maintain the database for media outreach;
  • Develop and send awareness communications, event alerts, and social media campaigns;
  • Create, maintain and disseminate of all chapter activities (articles, Facebook page updates, twitter, blogs, pinterest, etc.);
  • Co-develop
  • Foster a collaborative volunteer work environment, demonstrate a power with and empowerment approach.

Desired Profile:

  • 5+ years of experience in communications;
  • Proficiency in Word/Excel;
  • Strong working knowledge of google docs, google hangout and Skype;
  • Excellent Marketing, communication and organizational skills;
  • Open-minded, proactive, friendly, and a team player
  • Dedicated and motivated with a strong interest in Gender Equality.
  • Time requirement 5-10 hours per week.
  • Located in Greater LA area.

Description

UN Women USA LA is a multi-community-based effort. As such, we maintain relevance to local women in the community, in a manner that is sustainable, cost effective and ecologically responsible. The Chapter strives to actualize an identifiable connection between local and global concerns put into practice by our projects, programs and advocacy efforts. This includes research, education and advocacy for underserved women and girls in support of international programs for UN Women. We endeavor to partner with private and public sectors, non-for-profit organizations and concerned individuals in order to raise awareness and support for UN Women.
