Shelf of Hope: Delivery Day (9:30AM - 12:00PM) (November 2020 - February 2020)
House of Charity and the Shelf of Hope deliver food bags, frozen meat, and produce to 4 different buildings in Elliot Park, every Tuesday.
The way this works is we make 150 food bags on Mondays and then load up vehicles with 50 bags each to be delivered. The first two buildings get 50 bags each. The last two get 25 each. We need volunteers with vans/trucks/SUV's or other vehicles with a large amount of trunk space for delivering food. You are free to remain in your vehicle the whole time for a contactless delivery. The typical delivery times for the apartment buildings are 10:30AM, 11:00AM, 11:30AM, and 12:00PM. *The last two deliveries are done one after the other after loading up 50 bags (25 bags each).
To make sure we have enough time to load and unload vehicles, we need delivery drivers to arrive at the Food Centre at:
10:15AM
10:45AM
*11:15AM
Contact Noah Chan, the Community Engagement Coordinator, for any questions or concerns at n.chan@houseofcharity.org

NOTE ABOUT PHOTOS
While we welcome you to take photos of your group to remember your experience and share with others, please be mindful not to include any of our residents or community members. Our residents specifically have expressed being uncomfortable around volunteers taking photos.
VOLUNTEER WAIVER AND CIVIL RIGHTS
To ensure we qualify for TEFAP (a federal program ran by The Food Group) we need to make sure that all of our volunteers signify that they have read the information in our volunteer waiver (Labeled "I have read and agree to the volunteer waiver" at the end of the registration process.) These include basics on civil rights.

To feed those in need, house those experiencing homelessness and empower individuals to achieve independence.
Right from the start, in the early 1950s, House of Charity has been about transforming lives...one person at a time. Our founder, Brother de Paul, responded to the need he saw around him by providing food and shelter to the poor in Minneapolis. Since its beginnings on Nicollet Island, House of Charity has been located at several sites in downtown Minneapolis, and moved to its current location at 510 South 8th Street in 1976. Once a hotel, the building now houses 116 men and women who have experienced homelessness.
One of our primary goals is to help struggling individuals meet their basic human needs of food and shelter while reducing barriers to their long-term self-sufficiency.
We do this by providing:
