Call for Volunteers!

UN Women USA LA is currently seeking 2 motivated Events Co-Directors, who will be board members, as well as Event Coordinators; in which they will be assigned the responsibility of managing the chapter’s events! UN Women USA LA advocates on behalf of UN Women locally throughout the Los Angeles region. Find us on social media @UNWomenLA

UN Women USA LA Event Director roles and responsibilities include:

  1. Oversee the preparation and implementation of events including monthly chapter events and annual assembly/conference;
  2. Develop, maintain and disseminate a calendar of events, including Salons, Workshops, Tabling events, Speaking events, Fundraiser events and all other event-related activities. Coordinate event execution with Communications Chair and related sub-committees;
  3. Recruit, develop, train and manage a group of volunteers for tabling/canvassing events and other opportunities, as identified in the master calendar of events. Facilitate bi-weekly team meetings and collaborate with volunteers to document and project progress of event-related activities;

  1. Manage and maintain all documentation (pro-books, timelines, schedules, contacts), logistics, and team for every event; and provide monthly report to board members;
  2. Communicate with Fund Development team about sponsorships related to each event;
  3. Foster a collaborative volunteer work environment, demonstrate a power with and empowerment approach.

Desired Profile:

  • Demonstrated experience in organizing events or similar. Coordinator: 5 years. Director: 8 years.
  • Proven experience in developing events, and some knowledge of working with communications teams in promoting events through social media.
  • Strong working knowledge of zoom, google docs, google hangout and Skype.
  • Good communication and organizational skills.
  • Open-minded, creative person, proactive, friendly, and a good team player.
  • Dedicated and motivated with a strong interest in Gender Equality.
  • Located in the Greater LA area is a must.
  • Time requirement 5-10 hours per week.

UN Women USA LA is a multi-community-based effort. As such, we maintain relevance to local women in the community, in a manner that is sustainable, cost effective and ecologically responsible. The Chapter strives to actualize an identifiable connection between local and global concerns put into practice by our projects, programs and advocacy efforts. This includes research, education and advocacy for underserved women and girls in support of international programs for UN Women. We endeavor to partner with private and public sectors, non-for-profit organizations and concerned individuals in order to raise awareness and support for UN Women.
