What does a Board Member do?

Role:

  • Participate in board meetings (in-person or by phone); 6 meetings per year
  • Participate on one or more committees that support the boards’ mission: Finance, Nomination and Board Development, Communications and Development Committee
  • Willingness to reach out to the community and support the Foundation financially
  • Visit the school 2 times per year (Faribault, MN)
  • Bring your experience, ideas, and engagement to support the students

Time Commitment:

  • Board meetings=> ~ 2 hours every other month
  • Committee meetings and work=> ~ 2-6 hours per month
  • School visits=> ~ 10 hours per year

Mission Statement

The mission of the Minnesota State Academy for the Blind Foundation is to establish cooperative relationships and to raise funds for the Minnesota State Academy for the Blind unavailable through government sources. These funds will be used to enhance and develop programs at the Academy, providing the visually impaired students of Minnesota the maximum opportunity to become confident and productive citizens.

Description

Supporters of the Minnesota State Academy for the Blind Foundation (MSABF) enable us to fund programs that give MSAB students from across Minnesota who are visually impaired the best opportunity to become confident and productive citizens. MSABF grants have provided the Academy with a full breadth of enhancements to the education process, ranging from independent living and the arts to assistive technology, athletics and recreation.
