Help us spread our mission and increase community engagement as the Communications Intern/Volunteer for Associated Ministries! The Communications Intern/Volunteer will work closely with our Program Outreach Coordinator to assist with the creation and distribution of marketing materials and stories about our organization to strengthen our volunteer base and inform the community about our work.

Note: this position can be performed remotely or in-person at our offices in Tacoma, WA. Remote interns/volunteers must have a home work station (e.g. computer, internet, and phone).

Duties and Responsibilities

Virtual Outreach

• Distribute flyers for different programs via email, social media, and online recruitment sites
• Initiate email connections with potential volunteer groups
• Research sources for potential volunteers

Storytelling

• Collect stories and photos from staff and volunteers
• Draft posts for our blog, newsletters and social media

Other Duties

• Provide occasional assistance with related administrative tasks such as
  • Printing and prepping outreach materials
  • Returning calls and inquiries
  • Data entry
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Demonstrated commitment to promoting an anti-racist, equity-driven culture
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Experience with various desktop and web apps (such as Microsoft Office Suite, Google applications, etc.), and social media websites
• Some availability during the week within office hours 8:00am-5:30pm
• Ability to commit to a minimum of 4 hours per week for 3 months
• Previous experience with social media, outreach, communications, or graphic design in a professional setting is preferred
