During these uncertain times, how can we help?
See below to access our COVID-19 Resource Hub, and to explore our growing directory of COVID-19-specific and virtual volunteering opportunities.
Mesa Veterans Resource Center offers a variety of services to veterans and their families in the East Valley. We believe in a holistic approach to serving our veterans in order to promote their resilience and well-being. That is why in addition to our regular offerings such as veterans benefits assistance and emergency resources, we'd like to offer useful life skills classes. These classes will help veterans of all ages be more successful in areas they may be struggling in.
We're looking for motivated volunteers to lead these life skills classes for veterans at the MVRC. These events will include computer skills classes, financial readiness classes, and more. Many older veterans struggle with using technology. With many things becoming virtual due to the current COVID-19 situation, these individuals are at a significant disadvantage. You can help these veterans by helping them learn the basics of using a computer and the internet. Even younger individuals may benefit from a better understanding of programs like Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel. You can share your knowledge and help these veterans excel in their careers and life.
We are also open to providing other useful classes such as financial readiness, disaster preparedness, etc. If you have a specialty you'd like to share with our community's veterans, please reach out to us and let's see what we can do together.
To maintain the safety of everyone involved, the CDC's social distancing guidelines will be maintained. Attendance will be limited to 3-5 students and facial coverings will be required. Each class will be conducted once or twice a month. Hours and schedules will be worked out with the volunteer instructor.
