Crafts for Charity supports charities like Happy Helpers for the Homeless, Soldier's Angels, and Meals on Wheels of Central Maryland by teaching beginner and experienced crafters how to knit and crochet rectangles or scarves. Our teachers then combine the knitted rectangles to form blankets. Our crafts serve to achieve charities like Happy Helpers for the Homeless’s goals to spread the belief that "if all those able get involved, the human tragedy of homelessness will be solved."
Volunteers sign up for a 30-45 minute personalized class taught online by two of our teachers at a time. Each class can be taken with up to two more people (you can choose!). Once volunteers learn how to create, they can keep making rectangles to donate by giving their completed rectangles to one of our representatives or by leaving them at our drop off location at Happy Helpers for the Homeless (1550 Catons Center Drive Halethorpe, MD 21227). No set schedule is required. Volunteers are welcome to donate for as long as they wish after learning how to knit and crochet rectangles.
For more information and to sign up for a class, visit us online at www.craftsforcharity.com and please feel free to contact us at info@craftsforcharity.com to answer further questions about volunteering.
About Us:
Crafts for Charity is a volunteer-based service founded by students committed to helping charities serve those in need. Crafts for Charity offers a unique service opportunity by teaching people that service can involve one’s creative abilities, and by working together, we can tackle issues like homelessness and help veterans and seniors. Our current project is teaching volunteers how to crochet and knit rectangles and scarves. By offering virtual lessons, volunteers can work on their own time, making crafts for charity ideal for all people even with a busy schedule.
Mission Statement:
Crafts for Charity’s mission is to create enjoyable opportunities for those who want to volunteer creatively to help their community. We do this by providing free virtual craft classes that teach the skills needed to donate crafts to those in need.

Mission Statement
Mission: Robotics for All aims to inspire the next generation of students and volunteers to achieve their full potential, regardless of their background. Robotics for All strives to provide equitable educational opportunities to students of all backgrounds, particularly low income and under-represented students, with an emphasis on teaching the fields of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math). The goal is to reduce the opportunity gap, allowing students to gain beneficial skills for the rest of their academic and professional careers. We believe that it is important for students to have access to a quality STEM education, regardless of socio-economic status.
Description
Founded in April 2017 and officially incorporated in July 2018, Robotics for All aims to bridge close the opportunity gap by providing equitable educational opportunities to students of all backgrounds, particularly underrepresented and underserved students. Our organization previously only provided in-person classes. In July 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we transitioned our program to an online setting and experienced breakneck growth. In just 5 months, we taught the same number of students as we did in our first 3 years of operations. Our current online classes are for K-8 grader and teach a variety of platforms including Code.org, Scratch, and Python.
Robotics for All is volunteer-based, with currently over 100 volunteers at the time of writing. Our volunteers hail from dozens of states across the United States and several other countries. We encourage you to apply to join our growing community of volunteers.
