Pivedite Inc. is looking for an intern to help us grow and to help manage the day-to-day operations of the organization. This is a non-paid volunteer position.
This is an excellent opportunity if you want to:
- Volunteer for an organization that wants to end social problems.
- Communicate your ideas on how to end social problems.
- Work on a new and exciting project for social change.
- Learn what it takes to run a nonprofit organization.
- Gain more leadership and management skills.
- Gain more experience for a career in public service, the nonprofit sector, or social entrepreneurship.
Ideal candidates could be but are not limited to:
- Students looking for a serious real-world internship experience.
- Students looking to pursue careers in public service, the nonprofit sector, or social entrepreneurship.
- Established professionals looking for a high impact volunteer opportunity.
- Retired professionals with extra time to volunteer.
Who are we?
Pivedite is a 501c3 nonprofit journalism organization. Our mission is to inform the Philadelphia Region about pivotal solutions to social problems and to encourage expedited action to end those problems.
Our name was created by combining the words pivotal and expedite, and our tagline is "pivotal solutions expedited."
We launched on February 3, 2020.
What do we do?
The type of journalism we produce is called "solutions journalism". Writers and organizations who produce "solutions journalism" provide the public with answers and solutions to social problems. We report on solutions to 10 social problems in Philadelphia. These problems are listed on our website.
Our content will highlight any news story, idea, opinion, policy, service, organization, individual, or government action that attempts to end these social problems in Philadelphia.
Our content is reported through:
- Email notifications and blog posts from our President
- Articles from volunteer and professional writers
- Social media posts
In addition to our content, we are openly challenging the Philadelphia Region to end these 10 problems on a system level or on an individual level.
Duties/Needs of the Organization (Do not have to do all. Willing to agree on duties based on comfort, interests, and/or desire to learn)
- Monitor and reply to our organization’s primary email address.
- Post articles to our website using Word Press (do not need to know Word Press)
- Update website content using Word Press (do not need to know Word Press)
- Manage volunteer and intern recruitment initiatives.
- Edit articles submitted by volunteer and paid writers.
- Post updates to our social media platforms.
- Write content for our blog and articles.
- Assist with communication to the public, board members, and various stakeholders.
- Send emails using Mail Chimp email platform.
- Attend events to network and promote the organization.
- Speak publicly on behalf of the organization, if needed.
- Provide ideas on how to grow the organization.
- Help develop the organization’s strategic plan.
- Help maintain organizational documents/records/databases.
- Assist with other operational and administrative tasks, as needed.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Full commitment to 10 hours per week
- Desire to make social change in Philadelphia and around the country.
- Experience using social media for personal use and/or work.
- Solid written communication
- Creativity
- Willingness to learn and be a team player.
- Ability to learn new computer applications and software.
- Some experience volunteering at nonprofit is good but not required.
- Ability to work remotely.
