Help plant the seeds of tolerance: become a WILDLIFE GOODWILL AMBASSADOR

Some people enjoy having wildlife living in their backyard. Other people do not and use deadly methods, sometimes unknowingly, to rid their yard of wildlife. This is sad. Animals need not lose their lives when there are simple, nonlethal techniques that work andcould cost the homeowner nothing!

This is where Wildlife Goodwill Ambassadors come in: Wildlife Goodwill Ambassadors (WGA) are knowledgeable volunteers who help distribute and publicize credible information and resources about nonlethal techniques, encouraging humane resolutions. This information is offered to local government, institutions, on social media, to friends, family and in other creative ways.

Please be clear: Wildlife Goodwill Ambassadors do NOT take matters into their own hands. Our local heroes-our Animal Control Officers (ACOs) and licensed Wildlife Rehabilitators are the authorized entities who deal directly with the public and wildlife, not us.

Our goal is to fill a vital need-to let communities know, often for the first time, that there are effective and lasting humane alternatives to trapping, relocating, calling in an exterminator etc. at no or very minimal cost. The humane solutions are the lasting solutions.

There will be online training via Zoom with assignments to complete. Proposed start date: January/February 2021.

This is a new program and is by invitation only. Participants need to: attend Zoom training, take direction, genuinely want to help people and backyard wildlife.

If you are interested: Submit a letter telling about yourself including why you want to become a Wildlife Goodwill Ambassador Preference given to Monmouth & Ocean County residents. Students most welcome!

Mission Statement

The Volunteer Bird Transport Brigade (VBTB) mission is to help transport injured or orphaned wild birds to licensed NJ wild avian (bird) rehabilitators for the Associated Humane Societies animal shelters. Transports are made as needed & volunteers sign up to be on-call & committed for specific days to transport. Spring thru Fall are especially busy times. We are avian ambulance drivers. We pick up the contained birds & drive them directly to the rehabilitation center, usually The Raptor Trust in Millington NJ. We do not have the radio on while driving the birds nor pause for selfies nor to show the stressed bird to anyone. VBTB is the lifeline to recovery for these birds!
