Community Giving and Outreach Coordinator (Intern)

Who we are

Reading In Motion exists today to give the power of literacy to every child. To date, we have improved the reading skills of more than 50,000 students. Every year, through our program and with the support of community members, local leaders, and volunteers thousands more are given the opportunity to reach beyond their imagination, learning literacy in fun, creative ways to reach their potential.

As a nonprofit and cause-driven organization, we rely on the support of volunteers to deliver life changing opportunities to the children and communities we support - regardless of income or ability.

Through this program, selected volunteers will

Participate in diversified and hands-on experiences that will help them gain valuable school service hours (if applicable), develop their resumes and make a difference in the lives of students and teachers. Gain knowledge and transform that knowledge into action.

Cultivate professional skills such as adaptability, responsibility, creativity, leadership, and communication.

Explore different career pathways. Think larger than themselves by resolving real-world issues. Develop a professional network.

Location

This is a remote position. The Community Giving and Outreach Coordinator will serve primarily in the Las Vegas community. While there is always so much to be involved with, we are able to connect remotely to communicate for meetings and planning while working from home.

Purpose

The purpose of the Community Giving and Outreach Coordinator is to support Reading In Motion in creating a full circle of support for the development of young students’ foundational reading skills throughout communities and schools.

Position Description

The Community Giving and Outreach Coordinator will work with Reading In Motion staff developing communications and helping to plan and execute virtual events and educational programs. Responsibilities will include researching, writing, organizing, and promoting events to members, donors and to the community. Duties will be project oriented and administrative including working with organizational staff to support research, local businesses outreach, In-Kind giving, sponsorships, individual donations, emailing, cold calling, messaging and general assistance. Other duties as assigned and may be subject to change.

Experience in education, community organizing and/or donor engagement

REQUIREMENTS

  • The Length of Appointment: The Community Giving and Outreach Coordinator serves minimally 1-2 days per week for three months. After three months, the Community Giving and Outreach Coordinator may be reappointed.
  • Support: Training for this position will be provided. You will receive initial orientation for Reading In Motion as well as ongoing role specific training and support.
