Help Edit Informational Videos for Low-Income Families and Formerly Homeless Residents
Lantern Community Services
Lantern Community Services champions the independence and well-being of New Yorkers who are impacted by or threatened with homelessness.
At Lantern, we provide permanent housing and social services for people who have been homeless for a long time, come from disadvantaged communities, and deal with issues such as mental illnesses, physical disabilities or HIV. We also provide housing and social services for young people who have aged out of foster care. We have 15 supportive housing buildings located in Manhattan, Brooklyn and the Bronx, and serve a total population of about 1,500 people. Our organization also operates and manages two emergency shelters: one in Queens and the other in Washington Heights.
Currently, we are looking for a videographer, photographer, and/or filmmaker who is interesting in serving with our organization. Our health+wellness and educational coordinators have been creating informational video content, including free yoga classes, cooking classes, college application tips and more, for our residents via our Vimeo channel (https://vimeo.com/lanterncommunity). It would be very helpful to have a professional or student who can help us with editing such content.
We are a social justice and equity-oriented organization. If this aligns with you, definitely apply.
If you are interested in this role, please feel free to contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org. Thanks so much!
About Lantern Community Services
494 8th avenue, 20th floor, New York, NY 10001, US
Lantern Community Services champions the independence and well-being of New Yorkers who have been impacted by or threatened with homelessness, as well as those who have aged out of foster care.
Lantern is home to more than 1,400 formerly homeless people who live in our 15 apartment buildings across New York City. We pioneered services for people living with HIV, and we are one of the largest providers for young adults who have aged out of foster care. We give people more than just basic support and a place to live, prioritizing interventions with scientifically proven results. We’ve grown our programs a lot recently, working creatively with our existing resources, but now we need volunteer power to bring more programs to more of our clients!
