Animal Care League has just launched our Pets & People Support Program (PPSP), and we'd love for you to create your own Food Drive to collect pet food donations for this program! The main focus of the PPSP is to help members of our community retain their pets so they can remain in their loving homes. And since we're working to support both ends of the leash, we also provide humans with hand sanitizer, face masks, a food care package from Beyond Hunger, etc. to ensure that they also remain healthy. For more information about the PPSP, please follow this link: http://www.animalcareleague.org/ppsp-info.html We hope that this program inspires you and your team as much as it does ours! Below is some information on how to get your team started, and how you can inspire others to donate to the cause. Getting started:

  • There's an ACL Pet Resource Program flyer attached to this email for your convenience
  • Here's a great link from BFAS to help you plan your food drive: https://resources.bestfriends.org/article/pet-food-drive-how-organize-one
What our program needs most:
  • Cat food (unopened/dry or wet/adult or senior formulas)
  • Face masks for humans (unopened/unused/clean/ reusable or disposable)
  • Disinfecting wipes for humans (unopened/unused)
  • Hand sanitizer for humans (unopened/unused)
FAQ:1. What should I do if someone wants to donate money instead of food or other supplies? Feel free to keep a money collection jar and turn it into ACL when you drop off your food and resource drive donations to our main shelter (1011 Garfield, Oak Park, IL. 60304) 2. What should I do if someone asks if they can donate opened/used food, treats, or supplies? Unfortunately, we cannot accept opened food, treats, or sanitary supplies since it's illegal to do so. If someone wishes to donate these to your food and supply drive, kindly refuse and let them know why. 3. I'd like to set up a collection box inside of a pet food store or any other store, am I allowed to do that? If the management team of that store says it's okay, then yes, please do! We simply ask that you please not place your collection bin outdoors. 4. Will the Animal Care League provide me with any assistance? Yes! Included in this message is a flyer to help raise awareness about our Pet Resource Program. Also feel free to contact the Volunteer Coordinator if you have any questions, concerns, or guidance! Please also feel free to create your own flyer to include the most needed items (enclosed in this message). Unfortunately, we cannot provide you with a collection bin or jar, more signage, volunteers, venues, management of your food and supply drive, or transportation for donated items to the shelter. We're a small organization and cannot allocate or manage Food Drive resources at this time. 5. Are there any other ways to help the Animal Care League? Yes! We have tons of other ways to get involved to help homeless animals in need. Please reach out to the Volunteer Coordinator at volunteer@animalcareleague. org to find out how you can help. Thank you again for your interest in volunteering with the Animal Care League! If you have any additional questions or concerns then please don't hesitate to contact volunteer@animalcareleague.org.
