Project Open Hand is a nonprofit organization that provides meals with love to critically ill neighbors and seniors. Our Annual Hand to Hand Gala will be a virtual celebration on Friday, December 4 th and we need hands-on help to deliver the ultimate event experience! The event will include special appearances, award recognitions, silent auction, 'maskquerade’ competition, and chef-curated meal.

We are looking for energetic and reliable volunteers who are interested in helping us throw the most memorable Hand to Hand fundraiser to date! Volunteers will assist in making deliveries to attendees who purchased a meal in San Francisco and Oakland. Tasks include picking up meals from a central location and delivering meals following our no-contact delivery guidelines.

The volunteer driver must be a fully licensed and insured in the state of California, have a safe and registered vehicle in good working order, and be able to read provided maps and directions.

Volunteers will receive a face shield, a POH face mask, gloves and a free event ticket!

Mission Statement

Project Open Hand provides food and nourishment to improve the quality of life for the men, women and children it serves. Project Open Hand programs include: meal, grocery and nutrition counseling for people with symptomatic HIV and AIDS; congregate lunch and nutrition education for people over 60 years of age; meal service for homebound and critically ill people under the age of 60. Services are available to eligible clients living in San Francisco and Alameda counties.

Founded in 1985, Project Open Hand is a nonprofit organization that provides meals with love to critically ill neighbors and seniors. Our food is like medicine, helping clients recover from illness, get stronger, and lead healthier lives.

Every day, we prepare 2,500 nutritious meals and provide 200 bags of healthy groceries to help sustain our clients as they battle serious illnesses, isolation, or the health challenges of aging. We serve San Francisco and Oakland, engaging more than 125 volunteers daily to nourish our community.
