Did you become an architect thinking about building affordable homes, yet are only building homes for the wealthy? Here's a chance to do the good you believe in.

Care Association is seeking partners to make truly affordable housing a reality in the San Francisco Bay Area. The counties of the Bay Area have been providing ways to build smaller houses that are more affordable, yet businesses and the wealthy are taking advantage to build guest houses and pool cabanas. We are working toward building needed affordable homes for other households. We want to begin by helping existing homeowners construct units for households in need.

We are currently 100% volunteers and working from home.

About CARE ASSOCIATION

Location:

1951 Page Street, San Francisco, CA 94117, US

Mission Statement

Care Association plans, develops, and implements innovative strategies to alleviate economic burdens on lower- and middle-income households. We serve households in the United States that pay more than 30% of their gross income on housing or are transient because of lack of affordable housing. With the Care For Us web platform, we aim first to establish connections between households that are unable to compete in inflated real estate markets and homeowners who prefer to offer housing on their own terms. Secondly, we aim to connect and offer goods and services to those in need. Thirdly, we curate information and provide links to resources to inspire and enrich users’ experience.

Description

Care Association is focused on alleviating the economic burdens of low- and middle-income households by creating truly affordable housing. We are currently in the development process of an accessory dwelling unit that will be deeded affordable in Marin County, and provide a prototype for housing that has a low materials cost.
