ORGANIZATION: 2Life Communities

Program Summary: 2Life is in need of volunteers to support a Learn to Zoom course in Cantonese, Russian, Korean and Spanish. The course will be for residents who want to learn how to use Zoom and get comfortable with this very useful program so that they may participate in 2Life’s virtual program offerings. In addition to learning concrete computer skills, there will be a social component where volunteers, staff and residents will have a good time getting to know each other and build friendships.

Impact Goal: Foster supportive online learning environment for residents interested in utilizing Zoom, nurture intergenerational relationships

Key responsibilities:

  • Attend class 1/week and place check in/reminder phone call to resident(s) during the week
  • Collaborate with 2Life staff to establish a flexible learning environment each week
  • Document successes and challenges throughout the course in collaboration with 2Life staff

2Life Communities, a nonprofit organization founded in 1965, operates on the belief that all seniors should have the opportunity to live a full life of connection and purpose in a dynamic, supportive environment - a model we call aging in community, which directly combats the growing public health crisis of social isolation and loneliness amongst older adults.

At 2Life Communities, residents can step out the doors of their own apartments and find friendship, community, physical and intellectual stimulation, and a helping hand day or night. Serving a diverse population of 1,500 older adults, 2Life creates communities with a laser sharp focus on affordability - a tremendous concern given that Massachusetts is the state with the 2nd largest gap in the U.S. between seniors’ median income and the cost of living.
