About Nourish Box

Nourish Box is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to ending the destructive effects of hunger. We accomplish our mission by delivering meal kits to New York families and communities impacted by hunger.

COVID-19 has led to record levels of food insecurity. At some point this year, 54 million Americans - including one in four children - may not know where their next meal is coming from.

Nourish Box is determined to provide nourishing and fulfilling food to those struggling with hunger. We partner with food banks, community leaders and mutual aid groups to distribute our meal kits at events, or to directly deliver meal kits to families or individuals. About Our Board

Nourish Box’s Board of Directors comprises leaders from the nonprofit and for-profit sector who are dedicated to the organization’s mission. Our board members are passionate about ending hunger and believe that access to nutritious food is a basic human right.

In addition to the standard roles and responsibilities of a board member, our board members are active advocates and ambassadors for Nourish Box and are fully engaged in identifying and securing the financial resources and partnerships necessary for Nourish Box to advance our mission.

Responsibilities of Board Member

Nourish Box’s Board of Directors comprises leaders from the nonprofit and for-profit sector who are dedicated to the organization’s mission. Serving on Nourish Box’s Board of Directors is an extraordinary opportunity for an individual who is passionate about fighting hunger.

• Board members are expected to attend four board meetings per year. They are expected to read board materials in advance of board meetings and to come prepared to ask questions and participate in discussions.
• Board members are expected to serve on one or more committees of the board and to actively participate in committee work.
• Board members are expected to play an active role in securing the financial resources necessary for Nourish Box to achieve its mission. Board members are expected to leverage personal relationships and connections to help the development committee and staff identify and solicit potential funders and sponsors, as well as directly invest in Nourish Box’s work by making a personal contribution each year.
• Board members are expected to responsibly represent Nourish Box to their respective communities and to advocate for Nourish Box’s mission, programs, and services as appropriate.
